PHASE I
This week we have picked out the floor stain and the contractor is supposed to be at the house on Tuesday to begin staining the concrete. This means a tremendous amount of work for us over the Labor Day weekend to get ready. Lucky for Jerome and Joan that they're in Biloxi, otherwise we'd have them under contract. The paint has been picked out and we decided on the color bread basket. Doesn't it just describe itself? Can't you just picture it? Anyway it is a beautiful, dark, golden, caramel color. I think it compliments the dark furniture really well and also pulls in the base color from the handmade curtains in the dining room and study. I've watched enough HGTV to know that you should try to tie your rooms together with color if they are open to one another and I believe we have definitely done well so far. I also have the color picked for the breasfast room but so far I am unsure just how to tie it in with the rest of our big makeover. We will also be pulling carpet and tack strip up this weekend. Doesn't sound so hard? Well listen to this, we have to cut off every little nail from the tack strip with a small dremmel tool. HELP! Sounds like overkill, but if you simply pull it out it takes a huge chunk of concrete with it and this would create an ugly, pattern all the way around the room when the concrete stain is applied. Gotta go work.
